Alappuzha Beach Attractions

Ancient Pier & Lighthouse:
The beach houses the famous, ancient pier which is about 140 years old. This pier extends to a distance of around 2 kilometers. Take a walk on this dock and watch the sun go down calmly into the sea. There is also an age old lighthouse nearby that was built by Captain Hugh Crawford in 1862 and lies almost in ruins. This lighthouse helped to increase the trade in the past by transporting commodities and people through boats. These historic remnants add a colonial air to the place that reminds us of its bygone days. Visitors can check out this lighthouse also and havea bird's eye view of the sea.
Vijaya Beach Park:
A beach park known as the Vijaya Beach Park is also a fascinating place to visit with your family and kids and it tremendously add to the attraction of the Alappuzha beach. There are various amusement facilities and toy train available for kids here and this park has a swimming pool and offers boating facilities. The beach park facilities are liked by both the young and old alike. The park is famous as a picnic spot.

Entrance fee: Rs 2 per person; Free entrance for children below 5 years.
Boating charge: Rs 10 for ten minutes
Video permit: Rs 25
Camera permit: Rs 5
